Collaborative project between myself and Danielle Rhoda, showcasing our reportage drawing through mixed media practices. Our observational projects revolve around the lively music scene of Manchester and robust streets of Venice. We combined colour with collage and mark making resulting in curious and intriguing representations of the observed spaces. This resulted in life-size wooden cutouts of characters that stem directly from the both our projects. My publication “Night and Day” is a visual representation of the history of the Northern Quarter bar and music venue ‘Night and Day’, and Danielle is working on a picture book retelling her lonely trip to the city of Venice in the role of a modern female flaneur. The collaboration allowed us to explore our 2D illustrations in a new 3D context and see our practice in a sculptural environment. Through this we're hoping to expand the usual notions and perceptions of the applications of reportage illustration.
